Description
Anthurium Villenaorum
Habit Compact, upright Anthurium with a dense growth habit. New leaves emerge from a central growing point and gradually become larger and more elongated as the plant matures.
Growth Rate Slow to moderate. Growth is strongest in warm conditions with good light and consistent care.
Placement Best suited to a bright tabletop, shelf or plant stand. Mature plants can become fairly broad, so allow some space around the foliage.
Leaf Size Mature leaves commonly reach around 30 to 45 cm long, although larger leaves are possible under excellent growing conditions.
Light Medium to bright indirect light is ideal. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can damage the velvety foliage.
Water Water thoroughly when the pot has dried well and feels noticeably lighter. Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet, but do not leave the plant completely dry for extended periods.
Soil Rays Retail Nursery’s Chunky Premium Aroid Mix
Feeding Light to moderate feeder. Feed regularly during active growth without overdoing it. Grab some Novion before checkout.
Humidity Higher humidity is beneficial and helps keep the foliage looking its best. It can adapt to normal household humidity if the rest of its care is consistent.
Sensitivities Sensitive to overwatering, cold temperatures and prolonged dry conditions. The velvety leaves can also develop brown edges under stressful conditions.
Pet Safe No. Contains calcium oxalate crystals and can cause irritation if chewed or ingested by pets.
Rays Says "Villenaorum is all about those velvety leaves, so keep it somewhere bright and warm and don’t keep the roots constantly wet. It grows a little slower than your average aroid, but the leaves get better and better as it matures."
