Clean, small grade gravel for the drainage layer at the base of your terrarium. Laid beneath your soil, it gives excess water somewhere to collect so roots stay out of soggy conditions, which helps prevent rot and keeps your miniature ecosystem healthy. It also adds a neat, natural look when seen through the glass.
