Description

Caladium New Wave

Habit Compact, upright, tuberous plant that produces colourful leaves on individual stems from below the soil.

Growth Rate Moderate to fast during warm, active growing periods. Growth slows down as temperatures drop.

Placement Best suited to bright tabletops, shelves or plant stands. Works well as a colourful feature plant and usually remains fairly compact.

Leaf Size Varies between varieties, but most produce medium to large leaves that become fuller and broader as the plant matures.

Light Bright indirect light is ideal. Good light helps maintain strong colour and compact growth. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.

Water

Keep the soil consistently lightly moist during active growth. Water thoroughly when the pot begins to feel lighter, but avoid allowing the soil to dry out completely or remain waterlogged.

Feeding Moderate feeder during active growth. Regular feeding supports stronger foliage and steady growth. Grab some Novion before checkout.

Humidity Average household humidity is generally sufficient. Higher humidity can help keep the foliage looking its best.

Sensitivities Sensitive to overwatering, cold temperatures and prolonged wet soil. Leaves may decline naturally as the plant enters dormancy.

Pet Safe No. Contains calcium oxalate crystals and can cause irritation if chewed or ingested by pets.

Rays Says "Caladiums love warmth, bright light and consistent moisture while they’re actively growing. Keep the soil lightly moist and feed regularly during the growing season. Don’t panic if the leaves start dying back in cooler weather, they naturally go dormant and can return when conditions warm up again."
