Description

Fern Silver Lady

Habit
Upright, clumping growth habit with new fronds emerging from the centre of the plant.

Growth Rate
Moderate to fast under warm conditions with consistent moisture.

Placement
Best suited to bright indoor spaces on a tabletop, shelf or plant stand. Ferns also do well in naturally humid rooms such as bathrooms, provided there is enough light.

Leaf Size
Varies between varieties, with fronds becoming larger and fuller as the plant matures.

Light
Medium to bright indirect light is ideal. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch or dry out the foliage.

Water
Keep the soil consistently lightly moist. Ferns do not like drying out completely, but should not be left sitting in waterlogged soil.

Soil
Rays Retail Nurseries Premium Aroid Mix. The finer blend helps retain consistent moisture while still allowing excess water to drain.

Feeding
Light to moderate feeder. Feed regularly but lightly during active growth. Grab some Novion before checkout.

Humidity
Moderate to high humidity is preferred. Higher humidity helps prevent crispy leaf edges and keeps new growth looking its best.

Sensitivities
Sensitive to drying out, low humidity and prolonged cold conditions. Brown or crispy fronds are often a sign that conditions are too dry.

Pet Safe
Yes. Most true ferns, including Asplenium and Silver Lady Ferns, are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Rays Says
"Ferns love consistency. Keep the soil lightly moist, give them good indirect light and don’t let them dry out completely. Once you get the watering right, they’re much easier than their reputation suggests."
