Chamaedorea Elegans - Love Palm
Habit Upright, clumping palm with fine, arching fronds. Gradually becomes fuller as new stems develop from the base.
Growth Rate Slow to moderate.
Placement Very adaptable indoors. Works well on tabletops and plant stands while young and can become a compact floor plant as it matures.
Leaf Size Produces long, divided fronds with narrow leaflets. Mature plants become fuller rather than developing extremely large individual leaves.
Light Medium to bright indirect light is ideal. Tolerates lower light better than many indoor palms, although growth will be slower.
Water Water thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry well before watering again. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet.
Soil Rays Retail Nurseries Premium Aroid Mix
Feeding Light to moderate feeder. Feed during active growth. Grab some Novion before checkout.
Humidity Average household humidity is generally sufficient. Higher humidity can help reduce dry leaf tips.
Sensitivities Sensitive to overwatering, prolonged cold and very dry conditions. Spider mites can occasionally become a problem.
Pet Safe Yes. Chamaedorea elegans is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.
Rays Says "Love Palms are one of the easier palms to grow indoors. They cope well with normal household conditions and don’t need extremely bright light. Just don’t love them to death with too much water."
