Habit
Growth habit varies between varieties and may be climbing, self-heading or crawling. Climbing varieties produce aerial roots and benefit from support as they mature. The Imperial Green is a self-heading Philodendron. No support required and it develops into a broad upright plant.
 
Growth Rate
Moderate to fast under warm, bright conditions.
 
Placement
Very versatile indoors. Smaller plants work well on shelves and plant stands, while larger varieties may eventually need floor space. Climbing varieties will benefit from a moss pole or other support.
 
Leaf Size
Varies considerably between varieties. Many Philodendrons produce progressively larger leaves as they mature, especially when allowed to climb.
 
Light
Medium to bright indirect light is ideal. Variegated varieties benefit from brighter light to maintain strong colour and healthy growth.
